GOLD COAST SPORTS PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE YEAR
Great photography seizes great moments in time and can tell unique stories. It captures compelling action, unbridled emotion and searing passion. Photography inspires with its spontaneity, creativity and skill, allowing moments sometimes only watched by a few to be seen by millions.
Photography is intrinsic to sport, but it’s not just about action shots. Images of impassioned supporters, candid behind the scenes moments or the new angles made possible by advancing technologies, such as drones and GoPro cameras.
CALLING ALL PHOTOGRAPHERS
The Gold Coast Sport Photographs of the Year award is your chance to earn recognition for your art.
The Gold Coast Sporting Awards gala dinner will feature the award for the second time in 2024’s event at RACV Royal Pines on 9 March. There will be both an amateur and professional award, but the image must have been taken during the 2023 calendar year.
To enter, first make sure you and your nominated photograph meet the eligibility criteria below, then complete the form and submit your photograph. The judges will advise you in February 2024 if your photograph has been shortlisted for the award. Please note that some submitted images will be published on our website and social media channels to promote the award and the gala dinner.
ELIGIBILITY
Two categories will be judged in this award – professional photographers and amateur photographers. Either can category can submit images captured at elite or community sporting events.
PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER
Professional photographers nominated must either;
- Work for a Gold Coast-based media outlet, national agency or a local bureau
- Have a freelance business based on the Gold Coast.
Only one image per photographer can be submitted for consideration. The photograph must be of either;
- A Gold Coast sportsperson or team
- A Gold Coast sporting event or training session
- A Gold Coast-based team or sportsperson playing/competing away from home.
* The nominated photograph must have been taken in the 2023 calendar year.
AMATEUR PHOTOGRAPHER
Amateur photographers nominated must not;
- Earn their primary income from photography
- Freelance to mainstream media outlets or agencies.
Only one image per photographer can be submitted for consideration. The photograph must be of either;
- A Gold Coast sportsperson or team
- A Gold Coast sporting event or training session
- A Gold Coast-based team or sportsperson playing/competing away from home.
