The future of Australian sport just became a little brighter.
Grow for Gold, a bold new initiative powered by Sports Gold Coast in partnership with the Aussie Athlete Fund and supported by City of Gold Coast, officially launched this month — and it’s already making waves in the local community.
This game-changing program is designed to identify and support emerging Olympic and Paralympic hopefuls from the Gold Coast on their journey to the Brisbane 2032 Games. By providing $10,000 per year, per athlete, over a seven-year pathway, Grow for Gold removes financial barriers that often stand in the way of sporting success.
“This program is about more than medals — it’s about creating a sustainable legacy that supports our local athletes and gives them the best shot at reaching the global stage,” said Geoff Bower, CEO of Sports Gold Coast.
A Launch to Remember
The program was officially launched in partnership with Bond University and the City of Gold Coast, with a special evening event celebrating the program’s vision, values, and founding supporters. Olympic champion Brooke Hanson, Grow for Gold ambassador, helped lead the announcement and encouraged young athletes to believe in themselves.
Backed by Business
The first major sponsor, Azzura Investments Limited, led by Roberto Badalotti, has already pledged to support an athlete for the full seven-year term — a powerful example of how businesses can invest in community, sport, and future leaders.
With multiple tiers available, businesses and individuals can now express their interest in becoming a Grow for Gold supporter — whether that means backing an athlete for a year, joining Sports Gold Coast as a member, or helping spread the message.
