Gold Coast’s Natalia Drobot has delivered an outstanding performance at the 2026 Canoe Sprint National Championships in Perth, emerging as one of the standout athletes of the event.

Competing at Champion Lakes Regatta Centre from 11–15 March, the championships attracted the largest participation numbers since 2016, bringing together more than 270 paddlers from across Australia. Despite the depth of competition and challenging conditions, the young paddler showcased exceptional composure and dominance across the women’s open K1 events.

Drobot claimed three national titles, taking gold in the K1 200m, K1 500m and K1 1000m, completing a clean sweep of the premier sprint kayak distances. Her performance highlighted both her versatility and endurance across the sprint spectrum, confirming her status as one of Australia’s most exciting emerging paddlers.

As a Sports Gold Coast Grow for Gold athlete, Drobot’s success reflects the program’s mission of supporting young athletes on their pathway to international success and, ultimately, the Olympic Games.

The regatta itself celebrated the continued growth of canoe sprint in Australia, with competitors ranging from under-10 juniors to Olympic and Paralympic athletes. For many young paddlers, the opportunity to compete alongside elite performers provided a powerful glimpse into the pathway toward the highest levels of the sport.

For Drobot, however, the championships were more than just participation — they were a statement. Her triple-gold performance reinforces her reputation as one of the country’s most promising talents and a name to watch in the lead-up to future international competitions.

With momentum building and the support of the Grow for Gold program, Natalia Drobot’s performances in Perth mark another exciting step in what is shaping up to be a remarkable athletic journey.
