Despite being celebrated as “pound for pound the greatest sporting nation on earth,” Australia still lacks an organised system of industry-wide support necessary for sustainable growth and success.
With the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games set to shine a global spotlight on Queensland and Australia, the need for a strong, united sporting ecosystem has never been more important.
Sports Gold Coast is poised to play a pivotal role in this journey, fostering local talent, uniting communities, and building a robust foundation for the future of Australian sport, including gaming, innovation, and technology.

What does Sports Gold Coast do?
Through its unique membership base, SGC facilitates various community sporting projects and programs which to date include.
- The Gold Coast Sports Star Awards which bring the community together for an annual gala dinner celebrating local grassroots and elite sportspeople, along with those who service sport in various industries.
- The relocation and development of the Gold Coast Sporting Hall of Fame .
- The development and implementation of a strategy to secure a viable national men and women’s football team.
- Taking the lead in developing an Esport Strategy Plan for the Gold Coast with Council, Bond University and Southport Sharks.
- The development of a women in sport project which assisted Bond University in establishing it national 7s women Rugby Program
- Talent development, club consulting, grant assistance, sports infrastructure projects, and community engagement initiatives. This includes the organizing of events such as the Gold Coast Sports Awards, Women in Sport initiatives, and Young Sports Professionals Networking.
