As the countdown to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games continues, one important question remains at the forefront of community conversations:

What kind of legacy do we want to create for the Gold Coast?

On Friday, 10 July 2026, leaders from across the sport, health, recreation, education, government and community sectors will come together at Carrara for the 2032 Legacy in Motion Summit, a powerful one-day event focused on creating stronger, more inclusive and connected communities through sport and physical activity.

Delivered by Gold Coast Recreation and Sport, the Summit aims to move beyond conversation and into action, bringing together passionate changemakers committed to ensuring the opportunities presented by Brisbane 2032 create meaningful and lasting outcomes for local communities.

The event will explore some of the most significant opportunities and challenges facing the sector, including increasing participation opportunities for women and girls, improving disability inclusion, strengthening community partnerships, developing future leaders and creating the governance and systems change required to drive long-term impact.

Attendees will begin the day with immersive “have-a-go” activations, providing firsthand experiences of inclusive sport and physical activity initiatives before hearing from a range of keynote speakers who are leading positive change across community health, participation and inclusion.

The Summit will then shift into collaborative discussions focused on identifying practical solutions and creating a shared vision for the future. Through interactive sessions and networking opportunities, participants will be encouraged to build new partnerships, challenge existing thinking and contribute to shaping a Gold Coast where everyone has the opportunity to participate, belong and thrive.

For Sports Gold Coast, initiatives such as the Legacy in Motion Summit play a vital role in ensuring the region is not only prepared to host world-class events but is also investing in the people, programs and partnerships that will define our community long after the Games conclude.

With all proceeds being reinvested into industry development, collaboration and connection across the Gold Coast, the event represents an investment in the future of our sporting and recreation landscape.
