Congratulations to Nic Rone and his Varsity Lakes Community management board on the 10th anniversary of Sports House.
This significant milestone was celebrated at Sports House Christine Avenue in mid-June with over 70 VIP guests, including state members of parliament Ray Stevens and Michael Hart and local councillors Bob La Castra and Herman Vorster. Kerry Watson the former chair of the Gold Coast Marathon and Pan Pacific games was publicly congratulated for being made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the recent Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
Sports House is a legacy created by Lendlease in conjunction with council. Peter Cummins and Carl Bruhn, both part of the Lendlease team at the time, attended the event, along with Scott Kreuger from council who worked on the construction of the site.
Sports House provides facilities for almost 20 community sports groups, including Paddle Australia which produced Olympian Gold Medallists Curtis McGrath and Jean Van der Westhauyzen both nominees for the 53rd Gold Coast Sports Star Awards being held at RACV Royal Pines Friday 8 July 2022.
Sports Gold Coast shares a unique partnership with Sports House. Apart from sharing an office and working together on community sports projects, we collaborate in connecting business to sport.
At the event, Sports Gold Coast introduced to the grassroots sport community, two of its new members Kai Eris from Cinefly and Bryan Oram from Signonday.
Cinefly has a mobile application which community sports clubs and sponsors can use to produce and post high-quality corporate videos for their projects, club or particular event within 20 minutes at minimal cost. Kai, with the assistance of Sports Gold Coast, introduced the Cinefly app to a Coolangatta AFL club which helped raise a further $50,000 for its clubhouse from corporate sponsors using the application.
As part of Cinefly’s partnership with Sports Gold Coast and Sports House it is offering early access to the platform to unlock all the great stories in community Sport. For further info go to hello@cinefly.io or feel free to call Kai directly on 0478 751 234 if you’d like to know more.
Bryan Oram from Signonday explained to fellow attendees how his company provides a range of services to community clubs, including the financing of registration fees at the commencement of the sport season, website development, etc. An example of the great work Signonday are working with Gold Coast Activity providers can be viewed here
Sports Gold Coast also thanks Peta Fielding from Burleigh Brewing, Eddy Murillo from Wabisabi Sushi in Robina along with Craig Robinson founder of Maximus Pies who contributed to the beverages and catering. All great contributors to community sport. We hope members and the community support these three great local businesses in return.
Overall, a great night on so many levels but in particular it highlighted the unique collaboration by Sports House, Sports Gold Coast and Gold Coast Sporting Hall of Fame in the support, promotion and development of sport in our great city.
